“This is groundbreaking and amazing to say the least. Praying this grows internationally!” – Kimberly Wilson
The launch of Mom-Get Up’s first-ever event—the Good Grief Community Social & Photoshoot on August 23, 2025—marked the start of something powerful for the Pee Dee community. Hosted at the Epix Centre in Florence, the gathering brought together mothers, families, and supporters for a day of healing, fellowship, and empowerment. Lives were touched, stories were shared, and a new chapter of community connection began.
Guests arrived in shades of white, beige, and brown, bringing photos and stories of loved ones. Together, they shared tears, laughter, and conversations that reminded everyone that grief can be transformed into growth when it’s met with compassion and connection. Our panelists—Tori Williams, Monee McLeveen, Mary Pinckney, Vanity Timmons, Denise Flippen-Stewart, and Zipporah Colvin—opened their hearts and offered stories of resilience, leaving attendees inspired and empowered.
The impact was undeniable: “I’ve been talking about the event since I left,” one attendee shared. Others called it “groundbreaking,” “dynamic,” and even “the start of something international.” Panelist Denise Flippen-Stewart reflected, “I had such an amazing time sharing my life, losses, and lessons. Thank you for having hearts of obedience and a passion to serve.”
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our sponsors and partners: Journey Soap Bar, Tammy’s Tea, Green Leaf Café, and Uniquely Designed & Co. Special thanks as well to Ashley McDowell (photography), Jessica Bartell Thomas (makeup), and Jay Franklin (#Locs styling) for helping capture and create such a meaningful experience.
The Good Grief Community Social was more than an event—it was the beginning of a movement. Lives were touched, hearts were healed, and a new community of support was built. And this is only the beginning. Together, we rise—and this is only the beginning.

I didn’t think there was anything positive about grief, but this event gave me hope that you can get to the other side. Mary Pinckney also did a good job providing tips on how to get through challenging times.
I really enjoyed this event! It was anunforgettable experience. Please have more.
